WHY IT'S SO DIFFICULT TO BOOK A DRIVING TEST IN NORTH WALES

BOTH EXAMINERS AT ONE TEST CENTRE ABSENT FROM WORK, SAYS SERVICE CHIEF

THE UK driving examination chief has explained why it is so hard to book a test in parts of North Wales right now.

Clwyd West MS Darren Millar, who leads the Tories in Wales, has been pressing for answers from the DVSA on the reasons for long delays for practical tests at certain locations.

This is a particular issue in Rhyl where he says one constituent who was test ready in April has not been able to secure a test until January 2026.

He wrote to the chief executive of the DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) Loveday Ryder to ask why there were such long delays in the area. He highlighted the additional costs this was putting on learners as well as the impact on employment and education opportunities because people can't secure a driving licence.
