An official yellow alert covered Gwynedd, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham, though most of the serious issues were in Gwynedd.

The Met Office had warned there could be travel disruption and to beware of ice patches, as temperatures plummet.

There were a number of incidents, road closures and suspended bus services through yesterday morning - including a closure of the A55 near Bangor, with minor crashes reported by drivers and long delays on many roads either side of the Menai Strait.
