Traders should be compensated when roadworks hit business

Particularly in the summer months when our roads are busy with tourist vehicles, the thought that traffic flow is going to be disrupted for weeks or months is not one we welcome.

So, my profound sympathies lie with the business owners and residents of Tal-y-Bont in the Conwy Valley who have seen traffic flow severely disrupted for the past six weeks.

Work still hasn’t been completed on a project to move electric cables from overhead to underground which was only expected to take a week. However, it hit a major snag when a culvert was damaged, meaning that the scheme is likely to take most of the summer months to complete.
