'SERIOUS INCIDENT' EXTENDS INTO THIRD DAY

- By ANDREW FORGRAVE

THOUSANDS of Flintshire residents face another day without water.

Dŵr Cymru expects emergency repairs to a burst water main in Broughton to continue into a third day.

Compensation arrangements have been outlined by the company's apologetic chief executive Peter Perry. He said teams were working tirelessly to fix a temporary repair applied to the burst main last week.

A fleet of tankers is maintaining supplies to two hospitals and 20 care homes.

Several pubs and hotels were forced to close, while caravan parks warned of shortages and set up alternative supplies at sister sites.

Among those to lose supplies was the Riverlink donkey and pony sanctuary in Mancot, Deeside, which was forced to issue an "urgent" plea for help.

Dŵr Cymru pledged to deliver bottled water to vulnerable customers. Communities and individuals also rallied around, collecting bottled water for local distribution, some paid from their own pockets.
