Teachers strike in protest at poor pupil behaviour

Daily Post

September 18, 2025

TEACHERS at a North Wales secondary school are staging a two-day walkout in protest over what they describe as the failure to address poor pupil behaviour and workplace bullying.

- By ABBIE WIGHTWICK and OWEN EVANS

The industrial action at Flint High School yesterday and today (September 18) follows a one-day strike on September 10 which resulted in the school being shut to students.

NEU Cymru claimed disruptive behaviour has been a persistent problem since the pandemic.

A union representative alleged that at least two members of staff at Flint High have required hospital treatment after sustaining injuries while intervening in pupil altercations over the past year, claiming some have been suspended for breaking up fights.

They claimed teachers also endure daily verbal harassment and disruption, including students “roaming the corridors” during lessons, according to reports.
