BIGGAR BACKS NEW BOSS TO BE A SUCCESS AHEAD OF FIRST GAME

DAN Biggar says he’s only heard good things from Wales players about Steve Tandy as they get set for their first campaign under his stewardship.

Tandy will lead Wales this autumn against Argentina, Japan, New Zealand and South Africa as a new era starts in Welsh rugby, one which is set to play out amid the backdrop of major upheaval off the pitch, with the Welsh Rugby Union intent on reducing the number of professional teams from four to three.

The new head coach spoke last week about how players were dealing with the off-field instability, and Biggar has now revealed what his former Ospreys teammate has done in his short time in charge so far.

Biggar played with and under Tandy during his time in Swansea and having caught up with him recently, Biggar revealed that Tandy confessed he got things wrong while in charge at the then Liberty Stadium.

Aged just 32 when he took the reins, the Ospreys would win the Pro12 in his first season in charge but things unravelled for him at SA1, which saw him move on to coach with the Waratahs in Australia and then with Scotland, broadening a now impressive CV, which also includes a Lions tour.
