Silky Wilkie the smooth choice for Newcastle

SILKY WILKIE made a promising return to the all-weather at Lingfield recently and should go well again in the Create Your Bet Builders At Midnite Handicap at Newcastle.

Rated as high as 110 at his peak, Karl Burke’s sprinter now runs off 80, his lowest mark since the summer of 2022.

He failed to trouble the judge on his final two turf outings of last season in decent sprint handicaps at Ayr and Ascot, but there were signs of promise in his return from three months off the track just under a fortnight ago.

Silky Wilkie gets into this race at the foot of the weights and with Jack Nicholls taking 5lb off his back, he should make his presence felt.
