Rise in hackney carriage fares backed

DENBIGHSHIRE Council's licensing committee has backed increases to its hackney carriage taxi fares.

The decision was made at a meeting on Wednesday, following a public consultation initiated after a request by a local taxi firm.
Under the agreed changes, Tariff 1, the standard rate, will rise from £2.50 per mile to £3 per mile. Tariff 3, which is typically used for higher-demand periods, will increase from £3.75 to £4.50 per mile.
