AE myfyrwyr o Goleg Meirion-Dwyfor wedi dechrau gwaith ar brosiect dwy flynedd o hyd i adfer craeniau Sioraidd yng nghaer hanesyddol Caer Belan.

Bydd dysgwyr sy'n dilyn cwrs Peirianneg Forol ym Mhwllheli yn defnyddio technegau dylunio cyfoes i adnewyddu dau graen sydd wedi sefyll wrth doc y gaer ers dechrau'r 1800au.
Aeth y myfyrwyr a'u darlithydd Ellis Morey i'r safle ger Dinas Dinlle, Pen Llŷn i gymryd mesuriadau a gwneud lluniadau technegol o'r craeniau.
Bydd y myfyrwyr yn defnyddio'r rhain i greu glasbrintiau dylunio â chymorth cyfrifiadur (CAD).
Yn ystod yr haf, bydd staff a myfyrwyr yn cludo un o'r craeniau i gampws Hafan ym Mhwllheli, ac yn mynd ati i'w adfer i'w gyflwr gwreiddiol cyn dechrau gweithio ar yr ail graen.
Adeiladwyd Caer Belan ym 1775 gan Thomas Wynn, a ddaeth yn Arglwydd Newborough yn ddiweddarach, oherwydd ei fod yn poeni am ymosodiadau posibl ar arfordir Prydain yn ystod Rhyfel Annibyniaeth America. Yn ystod yr Ail Ryfel Byd fe'i defnyddiwyd fel canolfan i'r Gwarchodlu Cartref ac ar gyfer lansio badau achub.
