RAILWAY LINE OPENS AFTER £1.4M WORK

Work at Betws-y-Coed train station, inset, Conwy Valley rail line (Network Rail)

Train services are running again on the Conwy Valley line after a £1.4million programme.

‘The work was done to make the railway more reliable during extreme weather.

While the line between Blaenau Ffestiniog and Llandudno Junction is one of the most scenic in Wales it is one of the most weather-exposed.

In the past decade, storms have forced the line to close for more than 500 days - disrupting passengers and the transportation of freight goods.
