Police called in as camp fires lit at beauty spot

CAMP fires at an Eryri beauty spot saw the police called in to assist - with officers urged to tackle another hotspot.

Llangower - on the edge of Llyn Tegid, Bala, is a popular place for visitors, with people using it to access the lake and have picnics.

But over the weekend some of those there lit camp fires. This comes at a time when there has been a surge in wildfires in recent weeks due to the long period of dry and sunny weather.

Eryri National Park said barbecues and open fires are one of the main causes of wildfires.

On Saturday police helped wardens to tackle the issue - putting out fires next to Llyn Tegid.
