WREXHAM manager Phil Parkinson is facing his first significant decision of the January transfer window, having confirmed that Paul Mullin has been recalled early from his loan stint at Wigan Athletic.

The ex-Sunderland boss disclosed the news following the Red Dragons’ 2-1 Championship win over Derby County on Sunday.

the striker is now set to return to the Racecourse Ground this week for discussions about his future.

The 31-year-old joined League One team Wigan on a season-long loan in the summer but has had a mixed time with the Latics, netting five goals in all competitions.

Rumours of an early return emerged after he was omitted from several recent matchday squads, with Wigan manager Ryan Lowe previously stating that the situation was being dealt with internally.

Parkinson confessed that he has only had limited interaction with Mullin during the festive season due to Wrexham's busy schedule.

He said: “Mulls’ loan spell has been terminated. We'll have a chat with him this week when he comes back in.
