New investment could tie owners Reynolds & Mac to the club for years to come

Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac

It was announced on Monday that US asset management firm Apollo Sports Capital had bought a minority stake in the Red Dragons.

Reports suggest they have acquired a share of just under 10 per cent in Wrexham, based on a valuation of around £350million.

The deal will provide funding to redevelop the Racecourse Ground, including the construction of a new Kop stand. The club's Hollywood owners will retain majority control of the Championship side as part of the move.

Confirmation of Reynolds and Mac's ongoing involvement will come as well.

“The reason why Wrexham sell 100,000 shirts a year is that a huge proportion of those are to people who are fans of the Welcome to Wrexham documentary.

“If you take away Reynolds and Mac, will those people continue to have the same degree of enthusiasm for Wrexham? I think not.
