A BABY has successfully undergone a lifesaving heart operation in the United States after a fundraising campaign raised £1.5m.

Baby Ollie, who was born with a rare and complex condition known as pulmonary atresia with MAPCAs, underwent an 11-hour procedure at Stanford Children's Hospital in California.

The surgery marks a major turning point for the infant, whose family had been told by doctors in the UK and Europe that his condition was inoperable.
