Locals lose court fight over factory 'nuisance'

A COMMUNITY has lost its legal battle against an industrial giant in an ongoing dispute about dust.

Kronospan Limited is one of the biggest employers in Wrexham county, with its sprawling site on the edge of Chirk.

While the wood factory provides hundreds of jobs locally, people in the area said it came at a cost.

More than 150 households took a group litigation claiming that emissions of dust, odour and noise from the factory created a “legal nuisance”.

Significant damages were claimed and also an injunction. It saw a five week trial take place in April and May this year.
