George North bowed out of Test rugby as Wales’ second-highest try-scorer with a remarkable 47. The Wales legend is now enjoying life with his family in the south of France and keeping busy with several irons in the fire, as Dylan James reports

WALES legend George North is set to release his autobiography which will tell the tales of his world-famous career at the elite level.
While North, who grew up in Anglesey, has retired from international rugby, he is still playing club rugby and is currently plying his trade alongside fellow Wales international Tomas Francis with Provence in France.
The wing-turned-centre enjoyed a stellar career, playing for the likes of Scarlets, Ospreys and Northampton Saints. At Test level, North was one of the most feared backs in world rugby. He will always be remembered for his jaw-dropping carry against Australia on the British and Irish Lions tour of 2013 - carrying Israel Folau back with ball in hand.
North announced his retirement from Test rugby during the 2024 Six Nations. His last game was in the final match of the tournament against Italy, where he unfortunately sustained a serious injury - rupturing his Achilles tendon.
The rugby icon was carried from the field just one minute before the final whistle, and was given a standing ovation by the Principality Stadium crowd.
"Not everyone gets the fairytale ending," North said on social media. "A ruptured Achilles wasn't the way I wanted to bow out of international rugby. Still I have loved every second. On the recovery train now."
His official retirement statement detailed why he thought it was time.
"I have decided that the game on Saturday will bring my international career to an end," said North.
"After 14 years it feels like now is the right time to step away. I have loved and cherished every second in a Welsh shirt and been able to play alongside some fantastic teammates.
"I am very lucky to have lived my dream. I'm excited for the next chapter. Thank you for all the support over the years."
At 33, North's career will be drawing to a close in the coming years, and he has decided to release his book, entitled No Other Place, on September 11.
