Football fans stuck in hotels after historic match hit by travel chaos

WELSH football fans were facing disruption ahead of today's historic Euros match as French air traffic control strikes continue to cause chaos for those headed to Switzerland.
The Welsh women's team made history after qualifying for the Euro 2025 tournament last year.
They are set to take on the Netherlands in Lucerne, Switzerland, at 5pm (BST) today in their first match of the tournament, but some fans yesterday faced flight delays and cancellations.
Speaking to BBC Radio Wales yesterday, Daniel Davies, a fan from Rhondda Cynon Taf, said he was due fly from Heathrow Airport to Basel at 8.20am yesterday but his flight was cancelled on Thursday night.
He was supposed to travel with his family, including his wife and three children and his parents.
However, yesterday he was stuck in a London hotel, worried about how they would make it to the match.
