Ex-United defender Jones backs Amorim to succeed

Phil Jones has backed Ruben Amorim to succeed at Manchester United this season.

United recently crashed out of the Carabao Cup second round against Grimsby. Amorim admitted that sometimes he wants to “quit,” although United sources insisted that comment was tongue in cheek.

Amorim went through the emotions on the touchline during the win against Burnley before the international break, which was sealed in added time thanks to a Bruno Fernandes penalty.

The conversation around Amorim’s future would have intensified during the break if Burnley had won at Old Trafford. United should have wrapped up the game by halftime, and Burnley manager Scott Parker praised Amorim’s impact when he spoke at his post-match press conference.

Jones was speaking to Ladbrokes at the launch of Ladisfaction and shared his Amorim verdict.
