Evans resumes title battle on roads of central Europe

ELFYN EVANS will renew his battle for the World Rally Championship driver's crown when on the roads of central Europe this week.

Round 12 of the competition visits Germany, the Czech Republic and Austria for the Central European Rally which begins tomorrow.

Three Toyota drivers head a thrilling contest for the drivers' title, with Sébastien Ogier on top of the standings following back-to-back victories on South American gravel in Paraguay and Chile.

But Dolgellau's Evans was a strong second in both those events and is just two points behind Ogier.

The Welshman's co-driver Scott Martin is poised to make his landmark 200th WRC start in this week.

Meanwhile, Kalle Rovanperä remains firmly in the title fight, 21 points off the lead, as he returns to a surface on which he took a dominant win at Rally Islas Canarias in April.
