Car sales conman sold write-offs and laughed at requests for refunds

Some of the vehicles were write-offs, with one victim, who had her three children in the car, breaking down in it on a 60mph road.

Victims complained to trading standards and police were brought in.

A judge yesterday said defendant Zana Muhammed, 42, of Princes Street, Flint, had lied for two years.

Mold Crown Court heard Muhammed got cars from salvage auctions and then advertised and sold them without making purchasers aware some were write-offs with structural damage.

Others had steering, suspension or brakes issues or cosmetic damage.

Prosecutor Lee Reynolds said Muhammed advertised the cars on Facebook or eBay and sold them from the site of a former ambulance station on Chester Road, Flint, near his home.

Mr Reynolds said: "Purchasers would have been unlikely to buy the car at all if they would have known [about its condition] or would have been more keen to secure a lower price."
