Anger as Poundland set to close town store

THE Poundland store in Holyhead is to close this spring - with shoppers calling it “devastating news” for staff and customers.

Poundland avoided collapsing into administration in August after its turnaround plan was approved days before the chain was due to run out of money.

This plan involved the closure of scores of shops across the UK.

Since then a number of stores not on the original list have also been confirmed for closure. This has included the shop on Parc Prestatyn.

A Poundland spokesperson said: “We began a clearance sale at the store on Holyhead Retail Park today as the store is due to close on 19 March”
