PLEA TO PROTECT CHARACTER OF £2.25M SITE WITH 'WONDERLAND' HISTORY AFTER DEVELOPMENTS STALL

- By OWEN HUGHES Chief Reporter owen.hughes@dailypost.co.uk

DEVELOPMENT space in Llandudno is always at a premium thanks to the town's enduring popularity and the land constraints given it is hemmed in by the sea and two headlands.

Beachside spots are even more sought after.

Which is why it remains surprising that a prime location next to the sea at West Shore and close to the town's own 'Millionaire's Row' remains undeveloped after 17 years.

The land in question used to house a property called Penmorfa.

This was built in the 1860s for the family of Alice Liddell, said to be the inspiration for Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

It later become the Gogarth Abbey Hotel. But despite a bid to save the site the property was demolished back in 2008 after Anwyl Construction secured permission to replace it with apartments.
