'My challenges of becoming a parent at a young age'

IN A HEARTFELT event aimed at addressing the alarming rates of teenage pregnancies, a young mother became emotional as she recounted her journey of becoming pregnant at the age of 14.

Her story was shared at the unveiling of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Multi-Sectoral Strategy to Curb Child and Teenage Pregnancies 2025-2029 at the Nkosibomvu Secondary School in oThongathi yesterday.

Nkosibomvu Secondary School principal Sifiso Cebekhulu said that with 1400 girls and 1270 boys at the school, they were at risk and need urgent help.

The teen mom pupil said she wanted to talk about teenage pregnancy.

"I am someone who got pregnant at age 14. My child is now aged 2," she said.
