A RARE red warning for dangerous winds was issued as Storm Goretti looked set to bring 100mph gusts triggered by a “weather bomb”.

A weather bomb, also known as explosive cyclogenesis, is when air pressure drops rapidly in the centre of a low-pressure system. To qualify, pressure must drop 24 millibars in 24 hours and Goretti’s was yesterday predicted to fall by 36.
