Pioneering clinic is helping youngsters to quit

MEDICS at the first NHS vaping clinic for children say some are so addicted they puff before they get out of bed in the morning.

The clinic opened in January to help children, aged 11 to 15, quit after figures showed “alarming” numbers becoming nicotine dependent.

Professor Rachel Isba runs the service at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool.

She told the Mirror: "I'll ask them, 'When you wake up in the morning, how long is it before you first use your vape?'

"Some children are vaping before they get out of bed, which they perhaps wouldn't do if it was a cigarette. Vapes are on their bedside table with them next to their mobile phone."
