Illegal dumpers turn park into a foul, rat-infested no-go area
Raising a stink Rubbish piles up at Henry Barber Park in Birmingham
MOUNDS of rotting, smelly, rat-infested rubbish are turning a once-popular park into a nightmare.
Disgusted residents are demanding action to stop the fly-tipping, which has turned a loved community space into a squalid waste dump.
The litter includes furniture, food leftovers and soiled nappies and is causing a stench for neighbours.
The locals' anger over Henry Barber Park in Bordesley Green, Birmingham, comes as the city's bin staff voted to extend their strike for at least seven more months, into September.
The union Unite's action, over pay and plans to downgrade some bin workers' roles, escalated from one-day walkouts in January 2025 to an all-out strike in March.
