Streeting in vow to work on 'needless' doc strikes

HEALTH Secretary Wes Streeting has said he will not give up trying to stop “needless strike action” by resident doctors.

The medics - once known as junior doctors - have announced that they will walk out for five days from July 25.

British Medical Association members voted to accept a pay deal worth 22.3% on average over two years, in September.

And in the 2025/26 pay deal they were given a 4% uplift plus £750 “on a consolidated basis” - working out as an average rise of 5.4%.
