Humbled England forced to watch repeat of Murrayfield mauling when they returned to camp

STEVE BORTHWICK'S England were forced to watch a gruesome video nasty of yet another Calcutta Cup collapse last night when they returned to camp.

The inquest started on Saturday night in the wake of a defeat to a Finn Russell-inspired Scotland side that derailed a 12-match winning streak.

With Ireland to come this weekend, and trips to Italy and France finishing off their Six Nations, this was a brutal reality check for Borthwick’s men.

The boss was due to conduct a forensic review of the carnage back at the squad's Bagshot base once their lunchtime flight from Edinburgh landed yesterday.

The head coach always leads a blow-by-blow examination of any match but this one would have been X-rated.

England had promised so much over the last year but the hype was blown away initially by Scotland’s flying start, then by Henry Arundell’s red card and the visitors’ inability to turn second-half possession into tries.
