RORY MCILROY was relieved to return to the golf course after revealing that speaking in depth about the Saudi takeover of the PGA Tour earlier this week was "the most uncomfortable" he had ever felt talking about LIV Golf.

The world No.3 (right) started his defence of the RBC Canadian Open with a one-under-par 71 yesterday after admitting he felt like a "sacrificial lamb" in opposing the Saudi breakaway tour.

He also insisted: "I still hate LIV."
