STEVE DAVIS believes Ronnie O'Sullivan winning the World Championship on his return to the sport would be the "greatest achievement" of his career.

O'Sullivan, 49, was back at the table for the first time since January yesterday.

The Rocket has been riddled with bouts of "stage fright" after he "lost the plot" and snapped his cue in anger three months ago.

After a laboured start to his bid to win a record eighth Crucible crown, O'Sullivan opened up a slender 5-4 overnight lead. Hopes are high the fifth seed can replicate his 2013 title win (right) despite taking a year off.
