Blast at ex-party for 'folding over decisions' tough
SUELLA Braverman blasted her old party for having "no backbone" as she became the latest Tory to defect to Reform.
The controversial right-winger said she felt she had come home in the widely expected move.
In a scathing attack on the Conservatives, she also said they had "no courage, no resolve".
Braverman, whose party was in power for 14 years, told a rally in London: "Honesty compels me to say this today - Britain is indeed broken. She is suffering. She is not well. Immigration is out of control.
"Our public services are on their knees. People don't feel safe. Our youngsters are leaving the country for better futures elsewhere.
"We can't even defend ourselves and our nation stands weak and humiliated on the world stage. So we stand at a crossroads." The gaffe-prone politician followed Robert Jenrick, Nadhim Zahawi and Andrew Rosindell in fleeing the Tories in recent weeks.
She said her old party was full of hot air, adding: "When the cameras are off, when the doors are shut and when they're sat behind that table making the difficult decisions for the country, they fold." But she failed to take responsibility for her own role serving under Theresa May, Boris Johnson, Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak.
Braverman was forced to resign as Home Secretary in 2022 during Truss's short-lived premiership for sharing confidential documents on her personal email, earning her the nickname "leaky Sue".
