A WORLD-FIRST blood test for cancer is being rolled out on the NHS to speed treatment and give new hope to thousands of patients.

The test, called a liquid biopsy, uses a blood sample to look for tiny fragments of tumour DNA and detect mutations. Patients can access therapies tailored to the genetic profile of their disease much faster and avoid unnecessary biopsies.
