Pope's doing 'best he can'

Francis gives health update during jail visit

POPE Francis said yesterday he is doing his best as he continues to recover from life-threatening pneumonia.

Asked how he was feeling as Easter arrives, the 88-year-old pontiff said in a weak voice: "I am living it as I can."

He spent his traditional Holy Thursday among the least fortunate, meeting 70 inmates at Regina Caeli prison in Rome.

Francis is expected to make other Easter appearances over the coming days, although much of his diary has been delegated.
