Pilot likely saved lives, says witness after field tragedy

A BOY of 10 is among three people who miraculously survived a helicopter crash in which a 70-year-old tragically died.

The aircraft came down in a field, avoiding nearby houses, train lines and electricity pylons.

The 41-year-old pilot escaped with minor injuries, along with his passengers, a 58-year-old woman and the young lad.

Lee Needham, who saw the chopper come down, said: "Whoever was piloting the helicopter likely saved numerous lives."

Police say the 70-year-old suffered serious injuries in the crash and despite the best efforts of medical crews, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
