DOCTORS striking over pay should “own the damage it will do to patients", Wes Streeting said.

The Health Secretary is fuming about the five-day walkout, which ends at 7am on Wednesday.

Leaders of the British Medical Association say they are still not paid enough and there are too few training places or jobs.

But Mr Streeting has fiercely criticised the BMA, accusing it of refusing to constructively engage with him.

On LBC radio yesterday, he was told by resident doctor Niraj: "We all care about patient safety. None of us wants to be on strike."
