Our precious little fighter

A PREMATURE baby was born on the ward where her neonatal nurse mum works and was so tiny her hand was the same size as her dad's fingertip.

Little Chloe Alcock, now six weeks old, was born at 25 weeks, weighing 1lb 12oz, on March 17 and has battled breathing and kidney problems and sepsis.

But she is in safe hands with neonatal nurse practitioner mum Sarah Coxon, 35, and her colleagues at Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham.

Sarah and husband Dave Alcock, 35, hope Chloe can come home near her original due date of June 30.

Dave, a marketing manager, from Oakwood, Derby, said: “It was insane.

“Seeing a 15-week-early baby and having her in hand, she was only 820 grams - less than a bag of sugar.”
