MEANWHILE, YEARS LATER, IN 2026...

(Claudia Winkleman KSI Elton John Freddie Mercury)

A new gang of mischievous characters start causing havoc in today's anniversary edition of The Beano... and some of them look mightily familiar.

The comic is marking its 75th birthday by packing its pages with 75 of the world's greatest creative mischief makers, chosen by children across the UK.

In a time-travel story, celebrities from action star Jackie Chan to YouTubers KSI, Angry Ginge and Mr Beast are reimagined as mischievous 10-year-olds.

Mike Stirling, director of mischief at Beano, said: "Dennis [the Menace] is for ever 10, and for 75 years he’s reminded us that being a kid is the best thing ever.

"He has sparked mischief, laughter and a love of reading for fun in every generation since 1951.
