Burnham calling for 'aspirational socialism'

ANDY Burnham claims Labour MPs are encouraging him to challenge Keir Starmer to be PM.

The Greater Manchester Mayor, who has twice lost bids to be Labour leader, said: "MPs were in touch with me. It's not up to me. It's not my decision. That's a matter for the party in Parliament and it has to be about more than a personality contest."

In an unwelcome headache for the Prime Minister, a poll by More in Common suggested Labour would overtake Nigel Farage's Reform with Mr Burnham at the helm.
