Lords 'trying to sabotage' assisted dying bill, says MP

Some of 1,000 amendments are 'cruel'

PEERS have been accused of trying to sabotage the assisted dying bill by proposing “totally unnecessary" and “very cruel” amendments.

The accusation was from Labour's Kim Leadbeater, whose bill to legalise assisted dying was approved by the Commons in June. The bill's backers fear it will not be passed before the end of the parliamentary session as just 80 of the Lords’ 1,150 amendments have been discussed.
