PETER Mandelson was under fire yesterday after failing to say sorry to Jeffrey Epstein's victims for continuing his friendship with the notorious paedophile.

- BY DAVE BURKE Political Correspondent

The politician stayed friends with the billionaire despite the American being convicted for soliciting prostitution from a minor in 2008.

Lord Mandelson was sacked as US Ambassador in September after emails between the pair came to light. Yesterday, in his first interview since his removal, he told the BBC: "If I had known, if I was in any way complicit or culpable, of course I would apologise... But I was not culpable."

The SNP is set to put forward a motion this week demanding Lord Mandelson is removed from the House of Lords.

Westminster leader Stephen Flynn said after the interview aired: "It is absolutely sickening that Keir Starmer continues to allow Peter Mandelson to sit in the House of Lords.
