England boss to call fringe stars like TAA to explain how they can get back in favour

- JOHN CROSS

ENGLAND boss Thomas Tuchel is ready to throw Trent Alexander-Arnold a World Cup lifeline.

Tuchel revealed he plans to make a raft of video calls as well as personal visits - to players who are on the fringes of his squad, with Alexander-Arnold top of the list.

The England boss admitted Jarell Quansah is currently ahead of the Real Madrid right-back, but he plans to speak with players to tell them what they need to do to get back in his plans for next summer.

Alexander-Arnold has not been in England's last three camps, has not been picked since he went to Real Madrid, and it looks as if Chelsea captain Reece James is nailed on to start the World Cup at right-back.
