TV favourite Reuben smitten with his new co-star

Celebrity farmer Reuben Owen is cultivating something special with his girlfriend, who he says is his perfect match.

The star of Channel 5's Our Yorkshire Farm is besotted with Jessica Ellwood, who features with him in a new show.

The 21-year-olds have been together for eight months since meeting at an agricultural show, where they bonded over their shared love of farming.

Jess grew up on a dairy farm with 90 cows, whereas viewers of the Farm show will know Reuben and his eight siblings help to look after 1,100 sheep.

He recalls: "I was working with one of my mates on the digger and he asked me if I fancied coming to the show's night do. I turned up and somehow managed to get talking to Jess.

"It's the biggest stroke of luck ever. I managed to pretend I knew something about cows, she probably thought I was talking utter rubbish. We got talking and never really stopped." Jess says of Reuben: "He's very handsome and we just got on really well, we clicked. We have similar interests." To maximise the time the busy young couple are able to spend together, Reuben helps Jess with the milking at her farm and, in return, she helps him on his digger.

"I still do a little bit on my family's farm but now my brothers have got older they do the bulk of the farming and I concentrate on the groundwork," says Reuben.

Looking lovingly at his girlfriend, he adds: "Jess is absolutely gorgeous and great to be with. I love spending time with her whatever we're doing."

Viewers will witness Jess and Reuben's passion for machinery on the new 5 series, Reuben Owen: My Yorkshire Life, which focuses on his plant hire business.
