Honours system needs overhaul

DAVID Beckham was a good footballer but I don't think he should have been made a “Sir”.

This is an old-fashioned and outdated system that needs to be scrapped. Yes he has done stuff for charity and he’s a nice enough bloke but nobody should hold these ridiculous titles.

I know he comes from a working-class background and it's good that he’s made something of himself, but a title like Sir doesn't mean anything.

I don't believe in the honours system after Boris Johnson gave all his mates a gong. It made a mockery of the whole system.

These are gongs for the privileged and those that have a lot of money. The honours system just widens the class divide.
