THE Tories have been accused of “learning nothing" from their disastrous handling of the economy under Liz Truss as they today try to rehash failed policies.

“Shameless” Sir Mel Stride, the Shadow Chancellor, will vow to slash benefits - despite the welfare bill ballooning on his party's watch.

He will pledge to strip disability payments from folk with mental health conditions such as depression.

And he will say he would reinstate the two-child benefit cap if Labour scraps it in next month's Budget.

The policy, which restricts claims for child tax credit and universal credit to the first two kids, is blamed for pushing families into poverty.
