Campaigners' cash plea as budgets finalised

FIXING the “national scandal” of people living in dangerous homes like Grenfell Tower must be a priority amid tough spending decisions, say campaigners.

Housing Secretary Angela Rayner has been warned that righting the wrongs of the tragedy that killed 72 people cannot be ignored as she asks questions over her department's budget.

It comes ahead of the Spending Review on June 11, where government department budgets will be set out for future years.

In March the government announced £2billion for the next year of their affordable homes programme for new developments.
