O'Neill and Maloney answer crisis-club Celtic's SOS as McKenna and Postecoglou lead race for permanent job

- BY NEIL McLEMAN

MARTIN O'NEILL insists he has only returned to Celtic as a “short-term” fix after Brendan Rodgers’ extraordinary departure.

And a third former Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou is now a candidate to take over permanently - with Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna also in the mix.

O’Neill led Celtic to seven trophies in five years after taking over in 2000.

The 73-year-old last managed at Nottingham Forest in 2019 but has been called out of the TV studio to take temporary charge. He will be assisted by Shaun Maloney.
