DRIVER CHARGED

PAUL Doyle is due in court this morning over the Liverpool victory parade horror that left 79 people injured.

The former Royal Marine was identified by police yesterday before being remanded in custody. Dad-of-three Doyle was charged with two counts of wounding with intent to cause GBH, two of causing unlawful and malicious GBH with intent, two of attempted GBH with intent and also dangerous driving.

imageThey relate to six victims including two children. GBH carries a maximum sentence of life in jail. A close friend of Doyle's last night told of his shock over the arrest and claimed he had been dropping off a pal when Liverpool fans swarmed his car during Monday's Premier League triumph celebrations.

The friend said: "It is completely out of character. He is a nice lad. He has a heart of gold. I have only just found out and I feel a bit sick."
