Trinidad's Olympics bobsleigh joy all thanks to Yorkshireman

YORKSHIREMAN Axel Brown has helped create the perfect plot for a sequel to hit movie Cool Runnings - leading Trinidad and Tobago's bobsleigh team to the Winter Olympics.

In the 1993 comedy, John Candy plays the coach of a novice Jamaican bobsled team, taking them to the winter games.

Now Axel, 33, from Harrogate, has achieved his 10-year mission to reach the pinnacle of snow sports.

After narrowly missing out on a place in Team GB at the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics, he used his dual citizenship to establish a squad in the twin-island Caribbean republic.

Axel and his four teammates, all from Trinidad, have won a spot in Milano Cortina, Italy, next month.

They qualified at an event at Lake Placid, New York state, USA on January 11.
