Reform chief urged He says it would to publish tax returns be ‘intrusion too far'

- BY DAVE BURKE and LIZZY BUCHAN

NIGEL Farage stands accused of being very vocal about other people's financial affairs but strangely coy about his own.

The peeved Reform leader said he has no intention of publishing his tax returns.

He has been urged to think again if he hopes to show the public that his claims to champion working people are not just a load of hot air.

TUC general secretary Paul Nowak told the Mirror: "Here's my challenge to Nigel Farage, whether it's speaking fees for engagements at right-wing think-tanks in the States, or TV appearances or anything else you publish yours, I'll publish mine.

"Let's see Nigel's tax returns and we'll see who is on the side of working people."

Mr Farage has been challenged to release the information about the amount of tax he pays on his huge outside earnings.

He has declared more than £800,000 on top of his MP's salary since being elected to Parliament last year.

When asked if he would release his tax returns, as Prime Ministers Keir Starmer and Rishi Sunak as well as Chancellor Rachel Reeves have done, he insisted it is not necessary.

Mr Farage claimed it would be an "intrusion too far".

Despite previously saying he bought a home in his constituency in Clacton, Essex, it later emerged the four-bedroom house with a pool is actually owned by his girlfriend Laure Ferrari. The Mirror revealed that if Mr Farage had bought the home he would have been eligible for a £75,000 stamp duty levy because it would not be his only home, but Ms Ferrari paid an estimated £44,000 less as it is the sole property that she owns.
