Chaos as record numbers join biggest-ever festive getaway

Airports in the UK are braced for turbulence with trade organisation ABTA estimating more than five million people from the UK will travel abroad over the festive holiday period.

Large crowds of frustrated passengers were building up by early morning at Manchester Airport yesterday, while Stansted told people to arrive at least three hours early or face missing flights.
